The Group Benefits Sales Consultant, working via a home office and reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, will be tasked with meeting and exceeding sales goals for the Houston territory. This role will be responsible for promoting Flex's products, services and technology platform to Broker/Agency Partners, building and fostering new and existing broker/client relationships and serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding health insurance and technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consistently meets sales objectives, appointment and prospecting goals while developing relationships with brokers and clients. Participates in call campaigns and strategically handles objections in a positive manner
  • Promotes digital sales platforms to enhance and streamline the overall broker sales experience and provides consultative services to our brokers and clients
  • Participates in the implementation of sales strategies to enhance sales efforts
  • Deliver effective SaaS based technology demonstrations both remote and on-site.
  • Advises brokers and clients on pertinent health insurance related issues that impact their business and keeps them informed of the latest government regulations as well as product updates and changes.
  • Proactively communicates with brokers and clients to evaluate their level of satisfaction and solicits feedback on how service can be improved.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with internal staff to facilitate new sales.
  • Attends off-site meetings, appointments and industry events to increase sales opportunities
  • Utilizes sales database and software tools to assist in managing your sales territory
  • Participates in carrier training and meetings to keep informed of changes at the carrier level. Assists with training internal staff, brokers, and clients on knowledge acquired.
  • Delivers seminars and webinars and/or other presentations to further sales opportunities and support enrollment meetings.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability and dedication to drive sales and meet established goals as well as being effective in evaluating our client's needs and recommending/selling our products and services
  • Strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills and efficient at meeting deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an energetic, positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, master tasks and train others
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations and frequently cold call
  • Proficient with Customer Relationship Management(CRM) software ex: Microsoft Dynamics, Sales Force
  • Skilled in working within a fast-paced environment while remaining professional, courteous, and helpful
  • Maintain efficiencies while working in a remote capacity


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of outside business-to-business sales experience and 1 year employee benefits insurance experience
  • Experience delivering SaaS based product demonstrations and selling new to market technology products
  • Current State Insurance Producer's License, or the ability obtain this license within the first 1-2 months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of tax-advantaged benefit plans (FSA's, HRA's, HSA's) is a plus
  • Basic understanding of compliance issues related directly to the group health and ancillary insurance market.
  • Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • On average, 80% field time/local travel required. Must hold a valid driver's license with no restrictions and have access to your own transportation
